Download the Retirement Clearinghouse (RCH) study examining the practice of using electronic searches, or "e-Searches" for locating missing plan participants.
The RCH study examines a wide variety of e-Search options available to plan sponsors, and performs extensive testing of two e-Search alternatives against 4 control groups.
The study is the first of its kind to examine the reliability of missing participant e-Searches.
Key findings of the survey:
- There was a much higher-than-expected incidence of stale addresses for the “high-confidence” address group.
- An optimized e-Search significantly increased search reliability, across all control groups.
- E-Searches were found to be highly effective in performing periodic address updates, and least effective in locating participants with no address on file.
